CHARACTER NAME: Terrance "Trauma" Ward
CHARACTER SERIES: Avengers: The Initiative

[OOC]
Backtagging: Always
Threadhopping: Go crazy, unless it is literally marked 'Private' I do not care and will probably say yes if you ask anyway, so!
Fourthwalling: I don't really mind? Just ask if you think you're breaking the fabric of reality. Trauma nearly fourthwalls himself enough because I can't help but take digs at comics tropes. He's already pretty sure he lives in a giant sims game due to meeting god. SO.
Offensive subjects (elaborate): I play a human fear machine and am hard to squick. I will always defer to the other person because of that.

[IC]
Hugging this character: Have fun. He'll likely respond with awkward.
Kissing this character: Same.
Flirting with this character: Go ahead, he'll probably get confused. It'll be fun for everyone.
Fighting with this character: Sure!
Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Giving him a black eye? I don't really care. Want to maim him, we need to talk.  Use your discretion for everything in between.
Killing this character: Ask me. Trauma"s got special magic demon powers and doesn't die.
Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character:
Have a jolly old time. It's not a fun place in there, and he's likely to get readings back, so please fill out the post below if he'd get something off your character.
Warnings: Human fear machine. Warnings are a little varied considering it's mostly going to be related to whoever he's interacting with. I'll give warnings if he's reading something off someone that's gonna be a problem. Trauma is a nice guy. His powers are not.

Permissions for Powers:
Okay, So. Trauma's got a special thing that's called-...Well...He's a human boggart, for lack of a better way to put it. He's technically a psychic with shapeshifting abilities that focus on fear, though it's a little under question how it works due to the fact that his power is also magic based (He's a half demon, his dad is the demon Nightmare...It's all very confusing. Unless you read a lot of Doctor Strange and the Hulk....even then it's still confusing.).

He manifests as the fears of someone, generally the worst fear, though he can pick up others and tends to be able to sense the signs of fear like an increased heart rate. He has a fairly good sense of if people are lying because of it, but only as good as your average lie detector. He can be fooled. And he often is.

If you have a psychic or someone with canon high resistance to someone poking in their head it's likely can't read them very well or possibly at all. Same with canon high resistance to people messing with their heads. If he can't mess with them? Tell me so! If you plain don't want to have your character run into his powers? That's cool too! Tell me so.

He cannot read anyone mechanical or primarily so, so Vision and Data are cool to hang with. :D (shelly is a dork don't mind her.)

It's all cool and feel free to IM me or tell me here!

BUT. IF YOU ARE COOL WITH HIM READING YOUR CHARACTER, CONTINUE FORWARD.

Because his power does not turn off, and it effects his interactions with people, if you could leave what he can sense off your character that would be great!

I am so okay with him reading both Bee and Peeta.

From Peeta: Anytime Panem comes up there's a likelihood of him lying. He'll probably sense a lot of confusion and complication where Katniss is concerned and speaking of Katniss, losing her is easily his worst fear. At this point, he's probably afraid of Snow to a lesser degree.

From Bee: There's not a lot she'll lie about because she's pretty open. Her fear is complicated too. She's scared of the normal things that average teenage girls are afraid of , but her worst fear is easily turning into her mother who killed herself when she was young.

If this isn't enough or you need more to work with, let me know when an interaction happens and I'll see what I can do. I'm always open to messing with my characters.

Belle | [personal profile] deciding_fate
She has nothing stopping him. Her fears surround Rumpel going back to the way he was when she first met him.

She doesn't tend to lie. She does avoid the topic of who Rumpel really is, since he publicly goes by Mr. Gold and she's not going to drop the truth until he does.

Ben Richards | [personal profile] whole30
Ben canonically has no fears. He is just never fun. The only things he had left to fear for are dead, and horribly so. There is some guilt there but mostly anger. Raging, hot anger and god help Killian if he ever shows up in New Dodge.

Outside of that, he's mostly mourning and sort of depressed at this point, although when he can get his mind off of Sheila and Cathy he's actually content here. The only one he's really told what's up to is Tess. If the subject of his world comes up, he'll keep the focus away from his home life and how his wife and daughter died.

Flea | [personal profile] pink_magician
Flea lies about his name and species. He's told Illyria his real name and admitted to being a demon, but he was pissed off at the time and will still be going by Husni and not elaborating on what a mazoku is until forced to. If the subject gets around to Magus, there are tons of conflicting feelings there and he's very conflicted about living in a town full of walking food-stuffs (they eat people).

His fears center around no longer being beautiful and not having power or the security that comes with having power.

Harry Potter | [personal profile] crux_ofmylife
By canon, boggarts become dementors for Harry. Harry is a CRAU though. He's actually been trained in occlumency (the shutting of the mind from intrusion) and keeps up his 'walls' whenever he's awake out of trained-in habit. This doesn't mean that Trauma can't mess with him; he might just have to work at it a little harder.

Fun ways to screw with Harry also now includes manifesting as a dead Raven (zombie-style or dead-dead) and as a horribly tortured, dead Katara. I'm not sure which of the options would really screw with him the worst.

There is a lot in Harry's head to sense. A lot of guilt, a lot of confusion, a lot of conflicting feelings about canon mates. And if he can tell this, 7 years too many memories.

And he can sense what he likes about that soul fragment in his head.

Seren Betrys | [personal profile] cyfamodau
She has no defense against her head being messed with. She has a psychic wound that causes both psychic and physical pain. She doesn't really tend to lie, but she will avoid certain topics pertaining to her people. She's recently come out publicly about not being human, so there's not a ton for her to lie about.

Biggest fears at this point are having someone else she's bonded to die on her watch (hence the psychic wound) and having the nests found and slaughtered.

So does he always resemble the person's worst fear, like whenever they look at him?

Because if so, that will not go over well with Tess lmao. We might have to handwave something if that's the case, since her biggest fear is a zombie from her world and her automatic reaction to seeing a zombie from her world is to kill it. XD

Okay, that makes sense!

In that case, he can feel free to read whatever he wants off Tess, she has no particular psychic or mental barriers. She doesn't lie terribly often, but she also doesn't often offer up really personal information about herself!

Anyway, her biggest fear is being bitten by infected, which is what the zombies are called in her canon: WARNING for serious body horror!

Other than that, she's got a loooooooot of PTSD, because zombie apocalypse. And also the fact that she did, actually, get bitten in her canon and that's why she came to New Dodge lol. Basically, girl's got issues, and she keeps them tamped down behind a relatively cheerful attitude (the attitude isn't entirely a front - she is pretty ecstatic to be here, she just also has all these underlying things). So anyway yeah, she's jumpy and paranoid and he may be able to pick that up from her depending on how they interact. *g*

Bucky Barnes | [personal profile] zymasoldat
Feel free to read whatever off of Bucky! He definitely has no defenses against anything poking around his head. And if Trauma showed up a week ago, he'd be able to tell that Bucky's lying pretty much always, but he just came clean with his identity, so there probably won't be many lies anymore. In general, he'd be able to sense a lot of anger and confusion in Bucky. And uncertainty, because Bucky knows so little about himself.

As for his fears, his greatest one is getting his brain messed with by HYDRA again and turning back into their personal assassin/weapon. I'm not quite sure how it would manifest if Trauma decided to boggart-out, though. I guess he'd just see... himself as the Winter Soldier?

Wichita | [personal profile] pacificplayland
Feel free to read anything off of Wichita. She is surprisingly well-adjusted for someone who survived a zombie apocalypse, so the general reading wouldn't show much in the way of PTSD or anything. She presents herself as happier than she really is, though, because she misses her sister and wants to return to her. Still, there's some contentment, just a bit, because she's found a community to belong to after her world went to shit. But along with that is guilt for having that while her sister's stuck in Zombieland.

Her greatest fear is Little Rock as a zombie. WARNING THOUGH: if he ever presents himself to her as her greatest fear, she might shoot him. If she can work up the nerve to.

Rex Lewis | [personal profile] requiresssacrifice
Read whatever you'd like off of Rex! Rex is a big two-faced phony who hides his misanthropy and arrogance behind a mask of vague pleasantness, although sometimes he can also be pretty... outwardly contemptuous of people, too. He's a (now ex-) terrorist fuckhead who performed a ton of human experimentation and tried to take over the world, so the general reading Trauma would get from him is that he's Not A Good Person.

I have no idea what his greatest fear is, uhhh... he really doesn't like fire or explosions, because he got blown the fuck up once. Or vampires, thanks to a few run-ins with some at his last game.

Terry is more than welcome to read my characters!

This guy here [personal profile] crowschild Rory is actually pretty much fearless. Nothing scares him. He's got no real psychic defenses beyond bloody stubbornness and he's a damn good liar and a cheat. Like lying like he breathes when he wants to.

Alec Troven [personal profile] element_wizard has very good shields - telepath for a boyfriend gets them up really tight - and is an empath. What is he afraid of, turning into someone like this guy called Lorac the Destroyer, who a thousand years ago went insane and destroyed an entire city with his powers. (Lorac also turned out to be his godfather. It's complicated.)

Calanvir Delvar [personal profile] seestheforce he's a Jedi and calm in the Force. He is very in control of his emotions and his mind. But he's just come off of Order 66 (like a few weeks) and so his fears are more of failing those he left behind.

Since they're all OCs, feel free to ask me questions at any time or place.

That should be a fun encounter. But yeah. Rory grew up in a family where the monsters under the bed are scared of them. Fighting and heroics and being bloody stupid about going into combat full tilt are basically what he and his family does.

Questions will always be answered.

Marlene has no specific psychic barriers atm, so he's welcome to get a read!

She doesn't lie much, but she's not always forthcoming, either. Volunteering information isn't always going to be on her to-do list. I'll indicate in a tag if there's something specific that he'd notice about her mood, or about a half-truth.

Marlene's fears are a bit less tangible, and mostly related to self-doubts and exhaustion. In terms of stuff he might actually turn into, she comes from the same world as Tess...so yeah. More infected. Fungus through the skull! Body horror! Yeah!

Like everyone else, she's likely to shoot him without thinking twice if he does it.

He might also manifest as some very specific things -- namely Ellie in a hospital gown, or Riley/another firefly in the early stages of infection (gore warning on that link) for the guilty, broader fear that she's led people astray. Those won't be insta-bullets, though.

As just emotional readings go, she's likely to always be on (what might be for other characters) a state of high alert. It's her baseline, these days. Deviations from it, for better are worse, are likely to almost be more noticeable than her paranoia itself.

Totally okay with Vigil being read! He's still getting used to human interaction after a long time as a statue so he rarely sees the need to lie. And if he did, he's terrible at it.

He used to be human but was kidnapped by a very powerful fae and turned into a statue. The spell partially wore off allowing him to escape, but he still looks like a gargoyle. His worst fear by far is his former master; he's terrified of being taken back to Arcadia. To a lesser extent he's scared of fae and fairy-like beings in general.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Now that's interesting... Raven is a half-demon too. And her Dad is basically Satan.

She's a psychic too, though she can control her telepathic powers quite well (and turn them off) and is usually reluctant to use them. She will only read people's minds if they ask for it explicitly or if her demon half takes over (but it's usually part of a plot, with players' permission). Raven is an empath and usually good at sensing magic (especially dark magic) but only in person. So if they meet in person, she might be able to tell he's not fully human, unless he can suppress his magic.

As for pocking into her mind, she's going to notice that he's trying to do it and will block him. For his own good. What's in her mind is not pretty.

That said I'd be up to plotting something so that Trauma can turn into one of Raven's biggest fears like her Father himself or one of his minions, a masked guy called Slade. But this will require for him to be able to take Raven off guard, so we would have to discuss the details together. :)

Apart from that, I'd love for them to meet and interact, even if no magic is involved. Raven needs to meet other half-demons. And maybe they can talk about their respective fathers together?

Raven isn't psychic, but she's also not a run-of-the-mill human. She's been hit by compulsion spells before, so he will probably be able to do at least a surface read of her. If/once she realizes he can read her, she'll probably go hunting for a spell to help keep her thoughts to herself, but until then, definitely cool with him getting a read on her and using it if he wants.

He'll definitely be able to sense any general anxiety that she masks - and probably her insecurities over being such a young ruler at home - fear she won't live up to her father. She is also horrified at the idea of turning out like her mom - drug dependent, alcoholic, and living by mooching off of men. Those are her two biggest fears - the latter she keeps buried more, but it's definitely always there.
